Roofs can be split into two broad types – flat roofs and pitched roofs. Kingspan Insulation makes roof insulation for both applications and for different waterproofing membranes.
What is Roof insulation
Roof insulation is a barrier of material within your roof space. It can be installed between the joists (the horizontal beams along the floor of your attic) or the chevrons (the corner beams that support the roof). In any case, it slows down the heat transfer between your living space and the outside world, creating a hotter home in winter and a cooler one in summer. The insulation between the joists keeps the heat in your living space underneath and creates a cold loft, while the insulation in the rafters keeps you warm in the roof space as well.
Why is roof insulation needed?
In non-insulated houses, a quarter of the heat loss is spread by the roof. So, insulation in your loft, attic or roof space is a great way to improve the comfort factor of your house. It lasts more than 40 years and is expected to pay for itself many times in terms of energy savings, as the cost of insulating attics is relatively low.
When it comes to environmental benefits, good attic insulation also helps you reduce your house's carbon footprint. This is because the more insulated your house is, the more efficient your heating system will be – by reducing emissions and saving money on bills.

KingspanTP10
Kingspan Thermapitch TP10 is a high performance insulator with a fiber-free hard polyisocyanurate (PIR) core. It is suitable for heated tiled or slate roof areas and has a thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/MK.
KingspanK7
The Kingspan Kooltherm K7 sloped roof board is a high-performance sloped roof insulation that delivers thermal conductivity from 0.020 W/mm to 0.023 W/MK. With a fiber-free rigid phenolic core and a low-emissivity outer face, the Kingspan Kooltherm K7 delivers superior thermal performance with easy-to-manipulate rigid panels, enabling an efficient installation process. Made with a blowing agent that has zero ODP and low GWP, it is used to insulate tiled or slate hot roof areas.
Kingspan K107 Plus
Kingspan Kooltherm K107 Pitched Roof Board is a high performance insulation, with a fibre-free phenolic rigid core, which is used to isolate warm roof spaces in vented or unventilated sloped roofs, under tiles or slates.
Kingspan K10
Kingspan Kooltherm K10 Soffit Board is a fibreless rigid phenolic insulation core, between a top fabric-based coating and a bottom coating of highly reflective aluminium foil bonded to the insulation core during manufacturing.
Kingspan K15
Kingspan Kooltherm K15 is a phenolic insulator with a higher thermal resistance compared to the standard PIR.
- Thermal Resistance (m2K/W) : 2.50, 3.00, 4.00, 5.00
- Thermal Conductivity (W/mK) : 0.020
We supply the higher insulation materials that meet the demand of various insulation applications. For the insulation material to be used behind the rain screen coating system, the rain screen panel K15 is ideal to use. The K15 panel is delivered with 6 sheets per package and is a rigid insulation panel which can be used in Rainscreen coating applications. This board is easy to cut and mould with a saw or sharp knife. Durability is guaranteed by this board when it is completely chemically inert and properly installed.
Kingspan TR26
Kingspan Thermaroof TR26 is a high performance insulation with a fibre-free rigid thermoset polyisocyanurate (PIR) core. It is suitable for flat roofs waterproofed with a mechanically fastened one-ply seal, and has a thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/MK.Kingspan TR27
Kingspan Thermaroof TR27 is a high performance insulation with a fibre-free rigid thermoset polyisocyanurate (PIR) core. With a thermal conductivity as low as 0.024 W/MK, it is used to insulate flat roofs waterproofed with partially bonded single-ply multilayer felt, asphalt putty and waterproofing applied to cold liquid water.
Kingspan TR31
Kingspan TR31 structural insulation laminated with FSC-certified plywood composite, for flat roofs waterproofed with partially glued multilayer felt. Common applications of this product comprise, between and above flat roof joists, along with balconies and terraces.
Kingspan Optim-R:
With a thermal conductivity of 0.007 W/m K, the Kingspan OPTIM-R roof system provides up to five times higher insulation performance than other commonly available insulation materials. The next generation insulation solution for roofing is vacuum insulation board with rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation board which can be cut to fit problem areas such as roof lamps and ventilation kerbs. The Kingspan OPTIM-R roof system is designed to be used where there is a low U-value requirement and the slightest roof build-up possible. OPTIM-R insulation is particularly suited to applications where there may be limited space for the installation of new roof insulation, for example in buildings with planning height restrictions.
