Kingspan is a global company and was founded in the 1960's by Eugene Murtagh from Co.Cavan Ireland. The company back then was manufacturing wheel barrows. Eugene seen an opportunity in the insulated composite roof panels and began the process of manufacturing the Kingspan Composite Insulated Roof Panels and Rigid Insulation. In 1989 Kingspan floated in the stock exchange for IR£20m. Kingpsan continued its drive into the UK and European and by 2010 Kingpsan seen its first growth in sales in 3 years due to the fall out of the 2008 crisis.
Kingspan have also different forms of Polyiso insulation and the most popular range would be the Kooltherm range or also known as the K range.
Wall isolation is typically applied in three distinct ways. . Insulation can be installed in a cavity wall, on the exterior of the building, or in an interior wall. Although cavity wall insulation is usually regarded as the most effective of the three, it is not always a practical or feasible solution. Both external and internal applications have their advantages and will work to hold heat and reduce domestic bills, as well as some that have noise and fire protection properties.
How you could stop losing heat through your walls
Reducing the energy required to keep your home warm might be as simple as isolating your walls. Most homeowners are losing around 35% of the heat in their homes through the walls. The insulation of your home is one way to resolve this problem, although the materials and technique you will need will depend on the type of wall you are going to isolate.
Cavity Wall Insulation
The majority of houses built after 1920 have two-story walls. This deviation prevents water from seeping, but contributes to heat loss. This type of insulation will either be mineral wool, PIR boards or phenolic boards.
Solid External Wall Insulation
Solid walls tend to be found in older houses. Insulation can make your home more energy-efficient, prevent draughts and there will be no disruption to your home while it is insulated because it is installed outside the home.
Internal Stud Wall Insulation
Stud walls are constructed from a vertical beam structure and a variety of materials can be inserted or applied over the top to isolate these walls. You could also consider sound insulation to cushion noise elsewhere in the house.
Wall insulation:
- TW55
- K12
- K15
- K17
- K18
- GreenGuard
- Optim-R
KingspanTW55: Kingspan Thermawall TW55 is high-performance insulation with a fibre-free hard thermoset polyisocyanurate (PIR) core. It is used to insulate wood and steel framework systems and has a thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/MK.
Kingspan K12: Kingspan Kooltherm K12 Framing Board is high-performance insulation, with a fibre-free rigid phenolic insulation core coated on both sides with a low-emissivity composite sheet coating that is used in wooden or steel walls.
Kingspan K15: Kingspan Kooltherm K15 Rainscreen Board is high-performance insulation with a fibre-free solid phenolic core. It is manufactured using an inflating agent that has zero ozone-depleting potential (ODP) and low global warming potential (GWP). Offering thermal conductivities as low as 0.020 W/MK, it is adapted for use behind Rainscreen coating systems and masonry facades.
GreenGuard:
Kingspan GreenGuard Rebated Edge is a fibre-free rigid extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation that has the compressive strength required to make it the preferred product for specialized applications such as heavy floorcoverings, parking bridges and inverse roofs.
